WHO WE ARE
Run Black & Green is a walking/running collective centering Pan-Africanism, Afrofuturism, and Art to advance wellness, cultural wealth, and economic autonomy in Black communities. Founded by Nateya Taylor.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to increase the quality of life of Black diasporic people and communities through physical activity and fostering spaces for community building, conscious raising, change making, and creativity.
OUR VISION
RBG’s vision is constantly evolving. Our vision invokes the spirit of the fictional character, Huey Freeman, from the adult animated sitcom The Boondocks: “Vision? What do you know about my vision? My vision would turn your world upside down, tear asunder your illusions, and send the sanctuary of your own ignorance crashing down around you. Now ask yourself. Are you really ready to see that vision?”
―Huey Freeman
Our vision is to see Black diasporic people and communities live well and live longer. We envision a future where Black people live physically active lifestyles and live in environmentally healthy communities where they feel comfortable and safe. We envision Black diasporic people and communities in solidarity with one another, self-sufficient, and autonomous, with access to all the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, economic, and financial tools and resources they need to address the challenges they face. Our cultural assets are our wealth. We envision strengthening our communities by using our culture as the blueprint and returning to African/indigenous centered practices.
OUR VALUES: What We Believe
Intersectional Health & Wellness
We believe in improving the holistic health and wellness of Black diasporic people and communities through culturally relevant approaches to care that address systemic inequalities.
Radical Imagination & Vision
We believe in the power of collective imagination and vision to bring into fruition a world where all Black people are free.
Community & Cultural Wealth Building
We believe in building a beloved community, as defined by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., where “everyone is cared for, absent of poverty, hunger, and hate.” We believe in strengthening and building upon the cultural wealth of Black diasporic people and communities to promote connectivity, racial equity, economic prosperity, community ownership, and ecological sustainability.
